Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?
I educate people about Medicare. Medicare is confusing and I explain the program and the options. If appropriate, I help them apply for the benefits and programs they choose and as their agent I keep them updated on changes — things change every year. Some years not so much; this year, the changes were more important to understand. I also work with families and individuals (and small groups) who need help with health insurance and other related products.
Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?
Seeing someone’s face light up when they realize I can explain their options to them and help them make it make sense. Helping my clients understand their benefits and making sure they use them.
Q What are you most proud of professionally?Doing the right thing for each person. Medicare (and health insurance) has so many choices and no one solution is THE perfect solution. It’s about doing what is best for the person in front of me.
Q What is your advice for young women in business?
Maintain your integrity. Know who you are and your values. Understand how you want to treat your clients or colleagues or team. Be responsible and work hard.
Q How would you describe your perfect day off?
Sleeping without an alarm. A beautiful breakfast. A cup of something warm (coffee or tea, as long as it’s decaf). A walk. Reading or TV. Lunch with a friend. Laughter.
Q What is at the top of your bucket list?
Travel to Italy, Greece, Spain, or anywhere sunny and beautiful I have not ventured yet.
